personalDNA

The follow-up interview w/ Paste today went really well - I should hear something by the end of the week. It would be tough to pass up the position at Fletcher Martin to intern at Paste but I guess we'll see what my options are at by Friday. Maybe I can work out some kind of freelance gig w/ Paste that I can fit in outside of a full-time job; although that would prob. mean that I'd have to cut a few other jobs out - small sacrifice. It sucks not having anything, outside of a few commitments, that you have to do everyday. I think it sucks for the same reason that eternal life [physically] would : no urgency - anything that you could do today you can just as easily do tomorrow, for the most part at least. The best thing is being able to run + workout whenever I want to, but I'm pretty good about squeezing that stuff in even when I'm super busy - you know how I like it. It was pretty cool delivering the Fox [Faux] News petition to Home Depot w/ some other Sierra Club ...

don't stop til you're numb

FYI - proofreading a legal contract concerning a hedge fund [or something like that] for a law firm isn't as much fun as it sounds - Personal Stats for ~85 pages/5 hours : 47 yawns - .55/page or 9.5/hour, 3 new pen tricks [including vertically stacking two pens and a highlighter - very impressive], 2 x 14 line sentences, 1 x 19 line sentence, 1.5 times through boxer/easy tiger/icky thump/sky blue sky - thank god for the concealed shuffle This weekend was def. the most friendful that I've had since college, esp. Saturday. After getting into/staying out of trouble w/ Kevin Friday night it was onto softball w/ Joe and the 'burb/married w/ kids crew [we got the now standard one win before packing it in] on four hours sleep. Got to see a bunch of folks that I don't hang out w/ nearly enough at Yeagers new mansion that afternoon. It's crazy to me how much fun everyone always has when we all get together yet how tough it is to do it more often...hopefully we can attempt...

marathon training

time to step it up 16:1 - 7.30 - frees 2 mile warm-up 3 x 1600 - 6.37 | 6.45 | 6.55 - 400 RI - not as fast as I'd like but hopefully that will drop, a mile interval is a long time to hold a fast pace but hopefully I'll start running better times as I really pick it up now, I think the trail at Piedmont is more than 800 but I guess it's all I have if they're going to keep kicking me off of Gradys track...it's not over yet though 1.5 mile cool-down 16:2 - 8.1 - asics 2 miles easy 2 miles - 6.18 | 12.28 | a: 6.14 - I'll take it, damn it's hot at 1p [86/89], the average temperature in Memphis on Dec. 1st is 47...that's going to be nice, we'll see how the six miles today affects my legs during the game tonight but hopefully it'll be minimal 2 miles easy 16:3 - 8.3 - asics 13 miles - 6.5 loop around midtown x 2 - ran the first loop at 330 [94 degrees], not super smart...think I'll wait a little while before finishing up - the shade's not bad bu...

take the power back

V for Vendetta is bad ass - I love satires & I've been on quite the 'power to the people' kick lately. The government has to fear the people, that's the only way that things will change/grow/adapt/work. - I'm still trying to figure out how to get introduced to Natalie Portman...that's more for me than it is the people though I've got an interview at Paste tomorrow - pretty much my dream job - even though it's an internship and I would have to work something else to pay the bills. It would def. be a great next step as far as what I'm looking to do [and I wouldn't even have to move to nyc]

old 4th ward

A dude spit [spat?] on me today while I was running down to c.o.p. - it was an accident but still sucks...could've been a lot worse though, considering that my hand took most of the blow; otherwise it would've hit me right in the middle of the chest [and shirtless nonetheless]. I also thought that a bee had stung me on my eyelid later during my run but it hasn't swollen up or anything so maybe I dodged that one - that would be nuts : to not have been stung by a bee in over fifteen years and then to get randomly bitten twice in less than six days!

as you wish...atlanta

the princess bride rocks even harder on a big inflatable screen in grant park - my legs are sunburnt superbad - via warped + asphalt + poor planning + my albino heritage [ vick sucks & the falcons are screwed ]

stick to the future

weekend reflections: - corndogorama '07 solo 3 out of 4 days [sort of sad but not quite depressing] - got to see a bunch of local bands that I'd been wanting to check out for a while - further convincing me that all you really need as far as live music is concerned is local bands : highlights - corn dog eating/spewing contest, seeing a dude get taken down w/ a burnt corn dog to the crotch launched from thirty feet away by a monster water balloon launcher, drunk people, pretty much every band that I saw, etc. - two smirnoff ice parties [rock, I love how comfortable/adaptable I've become when it comes to hanging out w/ people that I just met - preston craig is cool and jordan is as well, hopefully I'll be doing more w/ those guys in the future] - still so cool that I get paid to hang out and party w/ a bunch of random people - running 6-8 mile scavenger hunts at 7a on a sat. morning are a lot of fun [again solo/pre-arranged partner - it sucks to come in first [win by ten ...

glory days

Ah, soccer! Apparently JB, D, EJ, and I are playing on a 7 v 7 team up at Silverbacks park this season. It was great to get back out there w/ those guys - the only way it could be more like the HS days is if we could get Bossman out there and get some hot girls to come watch. JB brought Girl James [Brittany rocks] of course but it was nice to finally get to hang out w/ him for a little while anyway. I played well, considering I haven't played in anything more than a pick-up game since HS and after knocking out 11 miles last night - although I was def. glad that we had a 1 for 1 sub ratio. Getting beat by a bunch of older Italian guys sort of sucks but we don't have much chemistry/communication yet and a few of our guys really hurt us on defense. - this should be fun I got Eric involved in the Sierra Club Smart Energy Solutions Committee today as well, now it's time to start planning the music festival [in addition to other stuff] - two of my greatest loves [ reviews don...

- march on -

My contract at Cherry Lion ends Friday...what's next? Hopefully one of these ad agency jobs will kick in, I'll get an offer from Cornerstone in NYC soon, the t-shirt shop will start earning me enough to warrant extra effort/increased advertising [vicious cycle], or I'll find something else cool to do and get paid for. Palmer's moving to Boston so it might be worthwhile to check out the job scene up there as well. I'm so glad that I have been able to meet everyone at Cherry Lion, it will def. be weird to not see them [or pabst and jack] every day of the week. There isn't anything there for me long-term at all though, I've been looking for other jobs then entire time that I've been working there. I do love the way that random events just seem to fall into place, esp. when it puts your exact kind of people/friends directly in your path.

live earth

[ do something ] - it's really sad that it takes an event of this size w/ so many great artists to make people aware of & act against global warming...hopefully this is just the catalyst that the world [and it's leaders] need

i love my roof

old & new friends, five + visible 'official' firework displays [although not as easy to see as we had hoped], tons of fellow savannah midtowners [diversity rocks], the champagne of beers, homemade fireworks displays/ruckus [hs anyone?], cornhole, hot tub, kegs of beer, early & late night crowd, beautiful georgia night, everyone laid back and loving it... - yep - the smirnoff party today rocked as well - I love having fun and feeling totally comfortable w/ a bunch of people that you had never met before in your life, just wandering around a party meeting everyone and 'working' - we're all awesome for the most part

car dive

this guy def. got the party started early... - i live here - have a merry + safe fourth

standard

q : what's the difference between a ferrari and a pile of dead babies? a : I don't have a ferrari in my garage... nutty weekend - staying up til after 630a and 430a makes for semi-wasted days - sky blue sky is more amazing and more amazing -
