vision of division

most epic freeloader weekend ever: fancy dinner/drinks/party/personal cabin @ Barnsley Gardens Friday night ['old' drunk people are much creepier than 'young' drunk people & most of the people that I work w/ are cool as hell], perfect seats @ the Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker Saturday night [Courtney is awesome on stage and off], 99x Mistletoe Jam via Paste Sunday night [Silverchair in 2007 is like a humorous heavy metal version of Queen] - not to mention that I had the perfect [so far] woman at my side the entire time. These dark afternoons and freezing temperatures do negative wonders for my after work productivity. I need to step up the motivation quickly or start scheduling a bunch of stuff at night... Always a sign of a good 'distance' relationship: the weekends continue to get shorter while the weeks get longer. It sucks to miss someone so much but it's def. the best kind of missing. I hope that this whole moving situation works out well [cool...

Buying gifts for other people is fun - you can find some pretty cool stuff for less than twenty bucks. It's also fun to have a reason to go into Best Buy so I can play video games for half an hour even if I don't buy anything. It's hard to believe that christmas is almost here again, but I guess that's how it goes once you grow too old for ninja turtles and nintendo 64. Great holiday stuff coming up: Paste party, ASO holiday party here , atlanta ballet's nutcracker, country christmas at Nanny's, wr for the family & annual soccer match, and boston for NYE. I think everything is always pretty good - but it's all really good right now. - my girlfriend rocks -

the lovers' rights

I love soccer. Playing in this league the past few months has been awesome, I def. plan on continuing this new tradition until I get badly injured or my wife/kids make me stop. It's such a rush to be engaged in a fierce, dirty, cursing match & talking shit & fouling each other & stuff and then say 'good game' and leave it all on the field. Now, if we can just get our own team or take over this one so we can run things the way they need to be run. I love how having a girlfriend makes so many other areas of your life so much simpler, esp. relationships and social situations. It's nice to walk around every day and not think about approaching every hot girl that walks past you. I never really had a phone that could text message when I was dating Ellie three years ago, but that has to be the most slick & easy way to earn points/stay in touch. Ha, I guess when you don't have a girlfriend for a while you sort of plan out the best way to do certain thin...

rue the day

I love when life continues to get better as you get older - it's all about loving life & others + having fun. To be as picky as I am, Brooke is pretty much blowing my mind - something has to be wrong... autozone . ocmulgee trail . nfl football . playground w/ random sweet kids . more football . superbad w/ josh . rest . cereal + toast . da ali g show - yeah, she's pretty cool weekdays w/ new friends continue to rock - you gotta love finishing off the keg of road trip at aso [darker beer please], giving some cds to an old friend, arch. friends/beer/pizza/CANstruction, & a free rock show via paste to wrap up a tuesday please continue to bring it :) [only three more sleeps]

challengers

The Pornographers brought it tonight [r.i.p. echo lounge]. It was great to catch Bejar, Newman, & Case all together again. Watching 'juno' beforehand [great], leading the Paste efforts @ the playhouse & taking 'my +1 for life' to the show wasn't too bad either. Halloween @ the 40 watt better bring it tomorrow night. [I really like this girl]

best wedding ever [yet]

Now that's how you get married! Eric and Lindsay's wedding weekend was awesome - pretty cool to know that Jennifer and I are a huge part of the reason that they're together. It's so cool when you can get all of your friends together again and remember how much you love them - I wish joe would've made it. Highlights: slip tripman, great pics - absolutely can't wait to see them, 3 shots/2 pbrs/1 jack & coke for $8.50, huge feathers, actually meeting girls when you go to a wedding w/o a date, that new new wedding haiku: interpretive dance, half price cigars w/ the guys, monster sparklers, the wedding nazi, st. joseph's catholic church [beautiful], steve's ripped tux pants, chris' hunting excursion... - it was even worth having to watch bama crush tennessee on tv - LSU better get ready - roll tide! [I've been really digging the new Lori McKenna + kate tucker & the sons of sweden cds lately - it's all about variety]

success!

The weekend rocked - I'm always so much more tired at the end of the weekend than I am at the beginning...

dubya

It sort of sucks when you're reading a totally fictional book about 'the zombie war' and hear about the President making good, thoughtful, inspiring decisions that help save the world and you're like "that can't be right"... I feel like Peter from office space at Paste now - not sure if that's going to help the full-time possibility or not but I am def. distinguishing myself from the rest of the interns, for better or worse. T-shirt hell is over for at least a few days - It's time to relax a bit and find time to run/workout/have some fun. I've got another freelance gig for a different ad agency starting soon. It looks like I might be calling the shots and holding some power as far as which full-time job I choose in the near future - if everything works out like it appears to be. Being in a fashion show is a blast - a rush akin to playing in a big sports game. It's not very smart to blow a possible chance to do more of it by making an ex...

best gameday ever

It was great to be able to experience a 'true college gameday' in Tuscaloosa...just sucks that uga owns us at Bryant-Denny. Hopefully next weekend in Jacksonville will be just as much fun and offer the desired end-result. - roll tide -

paste.softball.aso.kickball.t-shirt co.soccer.sierra club.valet.se performer.cornerstone.etc... - ease up man - bama did me right [barely] in tuscaloosa last weekend - I'm going to start it right this time around - roll tide we fast [no food or water from 4a - 6p [for rachel]] tomorrow then it's off to u of a to meet brian for the weekend [ full-time bad ass job coming soon ]

I passed by the most beautiful girl that I have seen in a long time tonight on Peachtree about thirteen miles into my run. I was super close to turning back around and telling her so but I was pushing for a certain time and I hesitated too long - I should've turned around. [ why didn't I? ] ...damn

i'll take you on

This weekend was full of random 'man/boy' activities at Jay's lake house w/ the guys: jug fishing at 2a, pbr, off-roading in [and subsequently breaking and pushing back] the golf cart, poker, wii, grilling out, football, mocking pippin for drinking that miller chill stuff, sleeping on a wood floor, little league baseball, getting the pontoon boat stuck, blowing fantastic bubbles, Jay's homemade brew, ridiculously curvy roads, being dirty, etc. It's pretty scary/apocalyptic how low the lakes are right now. [ the wr underdogs pulled it out - pretty amazing - I want a t-shirt ] via mom:

luda ! [i'm prettier when i shave]

I've said it before & I'll say it again: an average rock show beats the hell out of a good rap show - you still can't beat a free ludacris show in the smallest venue that I've ever seen him though. It was nice to take Jessica, she really enjoyed it. I just smile and 'participate' [waving arms, hollaing back, etc.] like a white dude the whole time anyway...I have no shame. I enjoy pretty much any kind of live music , but ludacris is one of the better hip hop acts going. - Josh, get your ass to the ATL, we'd roll man [ please support the falcons ]

black lips @ clermont

flower punk . boobs . debauchery . pbr . sweat . strippers on stage . fire hazard . the usual antics . smoke . sweat . jordan - snowden . bradford - deerhunter . two coathangers . sweat . ice water . 'real fans' . spray painted t-shirts . fellow paster . rob's house . . good night .

p.a.

- 16 hours inside the machine is a little ridiculous stats are as follows - fist fight: 1, exposed breast: 1 [at least], pair of gay men caught having relations in a corporate box: 1, child birth: 1 It's interesting to see how things work from the inside. Television is all about entertainment and that def. shows in the way that the producers cast for the show. It's also crazy how many times people sing the same songs. Being one of the 'snipper's that cuts a rejects armband off [thus crushing their life-long dream] doesn't provide as much satisfaction as one might think...but I'm a nice guy. Seacrest seems like a genuinely good person. Being a male, it was just cool as hell to be on the turf at the ga dome and to see what it was like to hear just ten thousand people screaming [and to dream]. I think this last four days has been one of the busiest stretches of my life. : sleep please :

aaron forever

Where were you when bonds stole the all-time homerun record? Destruction Of National Pastime Given Two-Minute Standing Ovation - I was at Fontaine's in the highlands man, that sucks - go a-rod

mutiny

How do you fill up an 80 gig ipod? I might have a problem... It looks like soccer and coed softball are both a go for fall. Now all we have to do is figure out how to overthrow our soccer team and take control of our destiny - bloodshed might very well be necessary - superbad rocks - I highly recommend it -

the echo project

: : : : : : : : : : : - - - - - - - What are your favorite local [southeast] bands? Seriously, I'm trying to figure out what kind of mix to shoot for with the Sierra Club Music Festival so any feedback would be much appreciated...I've got free reign over the direction of it at this point. - leave comments or get at me -

personalDNA

The follow-up interview w/ Paste today went really well - I should hear something by the end of the week. It would be tough to pass up the position at Fletcher Martin to intern at Paste but I guess we'll see what my options are at by Friday. Maybe I can work out some kind of freelance gig w/ Paste that I can fit in outside of a full-time job; although that would prob. mean that I'd have to cut a few other jobs out - small sacrifice. It sucks not having anything, outside of a few commitments, that you have to do everyday. I think it sucks for the same reason that eternal life [physically] would : no urgency - anything that you could do today you can just as easily do tomorrow, for the most part at least. The best thing is being able to run + workout whenever I want to, but I'm pretty good about squeezing that stuff in even when I'm super busy - you know how I like it. It was pretty cool delivering the Fox [Faux] News petition to Home Depot w/ some other Sierra Club ...

don't stop til you're numb

FYI - proofreading a legal contract concerning a hedge fund [or something like that] for a law firm isn't as much fun as it sounds - Personal Stats for ~85 pages/5 hours : 47 yawns - .55/page or 9.5/hour, 3 new pen tricks [including vertically stacking two pens and a highlighter - very impressive], 2 x 14 line sentences, 1 x 19 line sentence, 1.5 times through boxer/easy tiger/icky thump/sky blue sky - thank god for the concealed shuffle This weekend was def. the most friendful that I've had since college, esp. Saturday. After getting into/staying out of trouble w/ Kevin Friday night it was onto softball w/ Joe and the 'burb/married w/ kids crew [we got the now standard one win before packing it in] on four hours sleep. Got to see a bunch of folks that I don't hang out w/ nearly enough at Yeagers new mansion that afternoon. It's crazy to me how much fun everyone always has when we all get together yet how tough it is to do it more often...hopefully we can attempt...

marathon training

time to step it up 16:1 - 7.30 - frees 2 mile warm-up 3 x 1600 - 6.37 | 6.45 | 6.55 - 400 RI - not as fast as I'd like but hopefully that will drop, a mile interval is a long time to hold a fast pace but hopefully I'll start running better times as I really pick it up now, I think the trail at Piedmont is more than 800 but I guess it's all I have if they're going to keep kicking me off of Gradys track...it's not over yet though 1.5 mile cool-down 16:2 - 8.1 - asics 2 miles easy 2 miles - 6.18 | 12.28 | a: 6.14 - I'll take it, damn it's hot at 1p [86/89], the average temperature in Memphis on Dec. 1st is 47...that's going to be nice, we'll see how the six miles today affects my legs during the game tonight but hopefully it'll be minimal 2 miles easy 16:3 - 8.3 - asics 13 miles - 6.5 loop around midtown x 2 - ran the first loop at 330 [94 degrees], not super smart...think I'll wait a little while before finishing up - the shade's not bad bu...

take the power back

V for Vendetta is bad ass - I love satires & I've been on quite the 'power to the people' kick lately. The government has to fear the people, that's the only way that things will change/grow/adapt/work. - I'm still trying to figure out how to get introduced to Natalie Portman...that's more for me than it is the people though I've got an interview at Paste tomorrow - pretty much my dream job - even though it's an internship and I would have to work something else to pay the bills. It would def. be a great next step as far as what I'm looking to do [and I wouldn't even have to move to nyc]

old 4th ward

A dude spit [spat?] on me today while I was running down to c.o.p. - it was an accident but still sucks...could've been a lot worse though, considering that my hand took most of the blow; otherwise it would've hit me right in the middle of the chest [and shirtless nonetheless]. I also thought that a bee had stung me on my eyelid later during my run but it hasn't swollen up or anything so maybe I dodged that one - that would be nuts : to not have been stung by a bee in over fifteen years and then to get randomly bitten twice in less than six days!

as you wish...atlanta

the princess bride rocks even harder on a big inflatable screen in grant park - my legs are sunburnt superbad - via warped + asphalt + poor planning + my albino heritage [ vick sucks & the falcons are screwed ]

stick to the future

weekend reflections: - corndogorama '07 solo 3 out of 4 days [sort of sad but not quite depressing] - got to see a bunch of local bands that I'd been wanting to check out for a while - further convincing me that all you really need as far as live music is concerned is local bands : highlights - corn dog eating/spewing contest, seeing a dude get taken down w/ a burnt corn dog to the crotch launched from thirty feet away by a monster water balloon launcher, drunk people, pretty much every band that I saw, etc. - two smirnoff ice parties [rock, I love how comfortable/adaptable I've become when it comes to hanging out w/ people that I just met - preston craig is cool and jordan is as well, hopefully I'll be doing more w/ those guys in the future] - still so cool that I get paid to hang out and party w/ a bunch of random people - running 6-8 mile scavenger hunts at 7a on a sat. morning are a lot of fun [again solo/pre-arranged partner - it sucks to come in first [win by ten ...

glory days

Ah, soccer! Apparently JB, D, EJ, and I are playing on a 7 v 7 team up at Silverbacks park this season. It was great to get back out there w/ those guys - the only way it could be more like the HS days is if we could get Bossman out there and get some hot girls to come watch. JB brought Girl James [Brittany rocks] of course but it was nice to finally get to hang out w/ him for a little while anyway. I played well, considering I haven't played in anything more than a pick-up game since HS and after knocking out 11 miles last night - although I was def. glad that we had a 1 for 1 sub ratio. Getting beat by a bunch of older Italian guys sort of sucks but we don't have much chemistry/communication yet and a few of our guys really hurt us on defense. - this should be fun I got Eric involved in the Sierra Club Smart Energy Solutions Committee today as well, now it's time to start planning the music festival [in addition to other stuff] - two of my greatest loves [ reviews don...

- march on -

My contract at Cherry Lion ends Friday...what's next? Hopefully one of these ad agency jobs will kick in, I'll get an offer from Cornerstone in NYC soon, the t-shirt shop will start earning me enough to warrant extra effort/increased advertising [vicious cycle], or I'll find something else cool to do and get paid for. Palmer's moving to Boston so it might be worthwhile to check out the job scene up there as well. I'm so glad that I have been able to meet everyone at Cherry Lion, it will def. be weird to not see them [or pabst and jack] every day of the week. There isn't anything there for me long-term at all though, I've been looking for other jobs then entire time that I've been working there. I do love the way that random events just seem to fall into place, esp. when it puts your exact kind of people/friends directly in your path.

live earth

[ do something ] - it's really sad that it takes an event of this size w/ so many great artists to make people aware of & act against global warming...hopefully this is just the catalyst that the world [and it's leaders] need

i love my roof

old & new friends, five + visible 'official' firework displays [although not as easy to see as we had hoped], tons of fellow savannah midtowners [diversity rocks], the champagne of beers, homemade fireworks displays/ruckus [hs anyone?], cornhole, hot tub, kegs of beer, early & late night crowd, beautiful georgia night, everyone laid back and loving it... - yep - the smirnoff party today rocked as well - I love having fun and feeling totally comfortable w/ a bunch of people that you had never met before in your life, just wandering around a party meeting everyone and 'working' - we're all awesome for the most part

car dive

this guy def. got the party started early... - i live here - have a merry + safe fourth

standard

q : what's the difference between a ferrari and a pile of dead babies? a : I don't have a ferrari in my garage... nutty weekend - staying up til after 630a and 430a makes for semi-wasted days - sky blue sky is more amazing and more amazing -

too much rock for one man?!

...I think not, but it could sort of jade/etc. a guy [ twelve shows in fourteen days is a bit much, even for me ] - had a great interview here today...but you know what that means - it never fails to amaze me how friends/people change so quickly, but that's what life and growing up are all about. We all do it, it just happens so fast and hits you out of nowhere, but I guess that's how it's supposed to work.

whatanight

cherry lion ten to six, knock out nine miles, dino jr. & the black keys [amazing - two white guys have no business playing rock/blues like that], smith's for tom morello [just missed him...and bruce springsteen], the unicorn for judi chicago & the hiss [crazy nuts and the coolest band t-shirts I've seen in a long time as well as a guy that very possibly could have been chris robinson], then back downtown for the realization that the parking guy said that the lot would close an hour after the show ended - too funny... - marta holler - [ I'm glad montine misdialed ]

please be patient w/ me

I love wilco concerts in the pouring rain w/ new friends & I've officially joined two new bandwagons: onitsuka & trader joe's. Getting totally soaked last night gave me an excuse to use leather conditioner on [and further preserve for future generations] my wallet that my grandma gave me in hs. I need to get some thoughts about bonnaroo down...but I always say this about stuff/events and I rarely get around to doing it [at least not enough to do them justice] two bits of negativity: - friends suck more often than they should: apparently if you learn your lesson and stop wasting so much of your time trying to get all of your 'old' friends to hang out together it means you've changed & that you're too busy for everyone. - I haven't spoken to my dad in like two weeks, despite the fact that I called him and left a message on father's day [I was at bonnaroo but I sent him a card so I'm good] and have called several times since [sons > gi...

decision time

As I was driving home from work this afternoon I found an old Reba McEntire song on the radio. I thought about checking out what was on 95.5 [the bee-ahht] but that it would only be worth it if that Beyonce song was on...IT WAS! I've got to make a call on this job thing by the end of the week. Hopefully some paid Bonnaroo will assist w/ that...eh, nevermind, Dex made it a pretty easy decision after all.

four to four

cl beer fest . pool party . pink pony - crazy fun summer saturday w/ the cherry lion crew It's weird to see some of your friends at an event that you all would've gone to together a few years ago but that now you don't even mention to each other [mainly b/c I assumed that they wouldn't be interested] Hopefully I'll remain close to everyone at cherry lion after I take the new job at dex or racetrac, they're exactly my kind of people. Now to try to knock out two hip hop cd reviews by tomorrow morning in b/n t-shirt designs, piedmont, and a braves game...

southern nights

It doesn't get much better than partying w/ several of your co-workers at eyedrum amid crazy/cool art and a motivational speaker on a 'work night', wandering around cabbagetown looking for a pool to swim in, and ending up in my hot tub on the roof less than four hours before we have to be back at work...it isn't quite - eh, that's enough

stereotypes exist for a reason

It takes a while to get used to sanding a plaster waste mold while standing less than twenty feet away from a nude black guy reclining on a blanket in the middle of the studio...today was the best day yet at Cherry Lion - mainly b/c I didn't have to grind any fiberglass casts, got to do some finesse work, and was able to talk to Kevin and Shem most of the day. I'm going to push to have at least one dog at every job that I work in the future. I finally got to meet my fellow SEP writers, as well as my 3rd editor, at Savage tonight - they all seemed like cool, unique folks. Free pizza and 420 is always nice as well, but I guess that's quite a deal being that's all the payment that we receive for our work all year. Eh, it's a good experience and has some decent perks every once in a while. It's just cool to be able to say that you write for a music magazine, regardless of the fact that you don't get paid and it's distributed for free. It's been nice ...

turn a corner

My Dad called me tonight - he sounded more positive and hopeful than he has in years. Lately he's taken some fairly significant steps towards getting back to where he needs to be. I really hope that he'll get things turned around for good this time, it's def. been way too long [for all of us]. It feels really good to see someone finally take the initial steps that you've been urging them towards for so long. I feel like a huge weight has been taken off of my shoulders - the kind that I'd grown accustomed to carrying to the point that it just seemed normal. Hopefully we can all do our part to make sure that he continues to build upon this small [yet encouraging] base that Dad's built for himself. [ let's go dad ] Nice m-day: got some hard intervals in at Grady - even got complimented on my speed by some black track dudes, had lunch & went to the jazz fest @ piedmont w/ Ashley [I love Atlanta], got a decent amount of rock corps promo done for cornerst...

like a baby's bottom

Great weekend in C-town. The all star race is def. my kind of nascar event - short and fun. Ha, sitting in the air-conditioned box seats and eating/drinking on someone else's tab also makes it more enjoyable. Single-handedly turning open mic night into karaoke Friday night is pretty ridiculous - I'm not sure what's up w/ my drunken singing infatuation lately. It's just awesome to be home and eat really well for a few days and relax w/ your family. I finally shaved as well. It feels so weird and makes me look at least five years younger. [ the experiment [part one at least] is over ]

'new' plan - 1

I've always been a fan of the one long run per week + cross-training schedule...esp. after my injury and the new research that's been coming out. It keeps it interesting and helps you work different parts of your body + running 'repertoire' while keeping the mileage [injuries] down. I'll start out w/ the half-marathon training plan since I've dropped off recently and shoot for a full marathon in December - I'll just skip weeks so that my long run is increasing a mile/week until I begin the full marathon program. 5.15 - Day 1:1 - frees 1.5 mile warm up 6 x [400 + 2 stadium steps sprints] 400 sprint + 100 sprint - just for fun/speed 1.5 mile cool down [it's all about intensity] 5.17 - Day 1:2 - asics 2 miles easy 3 miles @ short tempo pace [I'm going to assume that 'short tempo' means race pace] 6.33 12.57 19.45 - hard & fast 1 mile easy 5.20 - Day 1:3 - asics 8 miles - nice route through inman park - l5p - edgewood - cabbagetown - downto...

viva italy [40 min]

Q - What does it take to chase two judges and me away from [or at least rush us through] $2 22 oz. shinerbocks and half price mushroom & swiss veggie burgers? A - An overly aggressive waiter/manager, horrible 'too cheesy to be ironic' 80's music, and a well-timed 'closing time' ala semisonic. - i love grandma & family -

waa waa

I know they say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - and I'm a definite believer in that...but I think I'm strong enough at this point. - a break would be nice I don't think that the duct tape is working...

what weekends are for

Friday night I learned that Scattergories is much more complicated/potentially violent than Hasbro would have you believe...and that playing this game makes some girls go CRAZY. This is exactly why I'm a Cranium man myself. Chris, Marcus and I headed to Athens Saturday to check out Twilight Criterium and an acoustic set from a band that I'm sort of into, which was absolutely amazing. It was nice to see them have the chance to let their lyrics rush to the forefront. Isbell is gone [the amicability of the split is in question] but I still love them and I've got another great band to go see now. The price of alcohol at Athens bars never ceases to amaze & delight me... Sunday brought a day of attempting to take full advantage of the beautiful weather w/ my favorite Athens attraction and then being lazier than I have been in a very long time, however forced it may have been - not too bad though, esp. considering that apparently I'm not too old to sleep in my truck aft...

yeah boyeee

I'm getting paid to go to Bonnaroo...and I sang 'islands in the stream' [if you don't know that song then I don't think we can be friends] karaoke-style last night, straight out of Mean Jeans backseat in the 80's - she would be so proud. I'm switching sides on the whole 'apostrophe for possession' issue. - that's all :)

to whom it may concern

I love the atlanta film festival - docs rock - and good friends. You really can't beat an evening of watching some great shorts, having a beer, and discussing anything that pops into your head while sitting outside a pub in the middle of the city [at least on a Tuesday]. I need to start getting some more stuff down in here, this whole job thing is just making a lot of stuff seem pointless. I'm def. doing things my way and I think I'm doing a pretty good job handling it all [both financially and mentally] but it's got to work out for it all to be worth it. If things don't come around soon I'll just look [or continue to look] like a self-absorbed, idealistic sloth. It's just crazy frustrating to have the 'perfect job[s]' dangled right in front of your face, just close enough to keep you hanging on...eh, 'so it goes' - we'll get there

mayonnaise and beer

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar...and the beer. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes." The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effecti...

mmmmmmm...beer

It's pretty nice when you can go to a beer survey off of Clairmont Road at 9p on a Thursday night and see four of your good friends and one dude that you had previously partied w/ at a Thrashers game...it's like free money, baby. - big weekend ahead : atl final four -

hardcore / stupid

- of montreal @ the 40 watt - my second bouncing, sweaty show of the week. such imagination on stage & 'hissing fauna' is absolutely beautiful/fun. i love pseudo-homosexual lead singers - 1.5 hours of sleep - 13.1 miles in 1:40:03 - def. satisfied w/ that, especially given my setbacks in training and recent escapades [even took down JB]. it was great to be a part of such a big event [15,000 runners] and to see all the fans, not to mention yelling as if i was a fan and high-fiving anyone that would have me for the majority of the race. nice course through various neighborhoods of atlanta. no beer sponsor...wtf?! - brunch - bloody marys - 1.5 hours of sleep - softball practice - the coach has got to set a good example... chill man, chill [I haven't shaved since the first night of sxsw, I wonder how long I can hold out. Ha, I guess it's pretty easy when you don't have a real job, I def. look like an idiot though. A nice little experiment nonetheless.]

MMJ is the coolest band on the planet...and I saw Michael Stipe smoking a cigarette downtown w/ Bill Berry. It was nice to see the other side of the computer screen and get to hang out w/ Ashley for a significant amount of time. Of course, I'll take any excuse I can get to wander around various thrift stores and dollar generals, dress up in a hideous Hawaiian shirt w/ 'sailorish' sports coat, a homemade boutonniere of fake flowers, and a foam fish visor meant for a five-year old...and then go see one of the best live bands around in a small club decorated like an 80's movie prom with a bunch of other people who look even more ridiculous than me. You don't even need to be 'hatfaced' to enjoy a night like that. in other news : Since Levi's is our sponsor, all that we can wear at the spot is their jeans...so we all get free Levi's of our choosing [hello skinners!] Oh, I talked to Moe at ASO and he said that the job is mine once the partners sign off ...

3.5 - 6 : out: 19.32 in: 38.55 a: 6.29 - it just felt so good to get back out there, I'll def. take that time [esp. considering that I had to push myself off of the hood of a car - not my fault this time - around the 4.5 mile mark], the dr. put a wedge in my right running shoe so I shouldn't be causing any irreparable damage, I'll just get through the runs and follow a routine: stretch . run . stretch . advil . ice - repeat, I don't mind running in a manageable amount of pain if I know that I'm not messing anything up too bad 3.8 - 8 : 58.49 a: 7.21 - horrible time, but I guess that dancing, drinking, and sweating at a prom/rock show all night and staying up til four and then not getting much sleep isn't exactly the ideal pre-race routine, the foot felt alright, i really think that b/n the wedge, advil, and ice that it should be good, at this point it's just going to be getting my legs used to running that far again, 8 is good for now though, everything cons...

good news x 2

1 - cade rearden : 6 lbs 11 oz 2 - luke rearden : 6 lbs 5 oz I can run again too [ tendinitis > stress fracture ], we'll see how well three weeks of prep works for a half marathon... - the roots embody what all hip hop shows should be, lupe wasn't bad either, I've got to get Josh up to atlanta one week from wednesday: I wish they'd announce the line-up already...

hmmm...

- court cases are very interesting and complex but being on a jury would be a huge pain in the ass - I wonder what living w/ a 40-year old gay guy would be like...

when it rains it pours

"For all of you who missed your prom back in 1956 or 1986 or 2006 for that matter, we will be hosting the 1st annual MMJ 2 night prom, March 6th and 7th, at the fabulous, prom-ready, 40 Watt Club in Athens! The first time we walked thru those hallowed 40 Watt doors we said to ourselves, 'this place looks perfect for a prom!' And now the dream will be a reality. The theme is a futuristic/retro under the sea vibe - costumes (tuxes, suits, robots, mermaid and lobster costumes, anything prom/ocean related) are not only encouraged - they are MANDATORY!!! NO ONE will be admitted without proper attire!** There will be cake, balloons, fishnets, classic cars, chaperones, spankings, and a whole lotta shakin goin on - 2007 style upin this bitch ya'll. Come prepared to dance the night away, and make up for all the proms you missed... - My Morning Jacket [hell yeah, I've gotta find an ugly suit...and a date] According to ASO, I am the leading candidate for the job and everyone ...

the devil stole the beat

Date auctions are a lot tougher for dudes. Cecille and Katie did fine, I just think that guys are more competitive and used to betting on stuff. Maybe the girls there just needed more cocktails or something...either that or they're just really cheap. I got to watch Andy Hull [manchester orchestra] play an acoustic set full of neutral milk hotel covers...that guy could be a genius, pretty awesome. + owen beverly + working title - round two at smith's tomorrow night - it's the freakin' weekend [and palmer is coming into town saturday!] oh, I'm pretty sure that Chris is in jail...I'll try to work that out tomorrow

another week

Another great weekend. I'm usually a bigger fan of weekdays, but lately weekdays just make me feel like I'm wasting my time. At least on the weekends I can try not to worry about the job stuff and just have some fun. Friday night was more fun w/ Katie and Cecille, I'm so happy that Katie moved to atlanta. It's crazy how you assume that you'll never see someone again but as soon as you do it feels weird that they had been gone for so long. Old-school, college style house parties, Marcus drinking straight from a plastic handle of montezuma tequila, the old 'i'm gonna puke' fake, and slip tripman is a guaranteed good night. Saturday was semi-wasted but redeemed by receiving four free [$320 value] fourth row seats to the Great Gatsby at the Fox. I know that Jennifer, Melissa, and Erin really appreciated it; I was pretty much blown away by how great the tickets were before the show even started. It was so cool to finally see all of my friends 'on t...

i got yummy nuts

Ha, I just wanted to say that...but seriously: Emerald's Chipotle Oven Roasted Peanuts are awesome! If you come by my apartment I will give you a sample...while they last. Tonight was just about the perfect chill weekday night for single Micah: a very productive Sierra Club meeting, five mile run, shower [important], getting a load of tasty/healthy stuff at publix, enjoying a delicious meal [w/ a samuel adams brown ale] while watching the u.s. national team beat mexico in an exhibition game, and finishing it all off w/ the colbert report and some 'what is the what'. Man, if I could land that job w/ ASO I think I'd be pretty much set for now. - goodnight

beer & babies

Hanging out w/ everyone at joe's last night for the game was fun. It's crazy to see all of the baby stuff they have, makes it all so much more real...twins. I know they're going to do a great job and have a blast, it just seems like we're still so young. That has more to do with what you are doing though, I guess my life is still so much more up in the air. They're def. settled in and ready for the long hall: nice house in the suburbs, dependable jobs, married friends, etc. Ha, it was sort of weird [only 'sort of' b/c I'm getting used to it] to be the only single person there: just me and a bunch of engaged/married couples, two young kids, and a little dog. I would like to get some practice babysitting though. I'm ready to be there, I just want to make sure that I do it on my terms and take care of everything that I need to beforehand...and have a lot of fun/do plenty of random stuff that I wouldn't otherwise be able to do. Traveling so mu...

2.5 - 3.8 : 24.33 - a: 6.46 - asics - not horrible, the foot feels alright, just a weird heat sensation - but I've heard that bones feel like that when they're healing [this could all be in my head though], I really need to start increasing the mileage again soon w/o being an idiot if I want to be ready to kill the half marathon on 3.25 2.7 - 4.7 : 29.49 - a: 6.34 - asics - not bad, I'm really ready to push the miles up, I hate having to restrain myself but I'll get there 2.11 - track work @ grady - 1.5 warm up : 4 sets of stadium stairs : 1 mile : 1.28 | 2.58 | 4.3 | 5.52 b: 1.22 a: 1.28 : 4 sets of stadium stairs : 1 mile : 1.23 | 2.58 | 4.29 | 5.53 b: 1.23 a: 1.28 : 4 sets of stadium stairs : 1.2 cool down - asics - my calves are going to be happy tomorrow, today was the beautiful kind of day that makes you glad that your friend got everyone kicked out of the bar before midnight last night b/c you otherwise wouldn't have been able to enjoy such a great sunday 2.1...

wiggly days . wiggly nights

Another great weekend, although I could stand to settle a bit. Crazy nights & lazy days are fun, but a little more balance would be nice... The homeless census wed. night was the best yet. It feels really good when several of the people that work at the shelter recognize me from the past two years. I guess I never thought that it was that difficult to get people to come back several years in a row; of course, most people's schedules aren't as flexible as mine. It just feels good to know that you're helping out and that you truly are appreciated, climbing around under interstate overpasses w/ a formerly homeless guide is always fun as well. My group ended up getting the largest census area so we got back last, I was the only one that stuck around for breakfast so I got to talk to Father Patrick for a while since we were the only ones left. You meet such good souls when you volunteer for certain things...especially the opportunities that get less publicity, everyone...

a pretty girl is like a violent crime

Another great weekend, joining everyone Saturday at park tavern to watch Eric propose to Lindsay had to be the highlight...so slick. Congratulations guys! I wonder who will be next... Yesterday we were back at the tavern for football and dollar drafts. Ha, it was def. the first time that I've ever been in a bar for seven hours straight. You can't beat saving 105 bucks! My uncle Gary had to shoot a guy [in the leg] that tried to rob his jewelry story this weekend, it even made the Atlanta news. - I've gotta find a job, this working 3-4 hours a day stuff is killing me

'b/c i need all the friends that i can get'

I love the earl, esp. when I get to see an early, sold out, non-smoking camera obscura show w/ Constance and then hang out, drink pbr, eat fried okra, a delicious black bean burger, boiled peanuts, and chips w/ various dips afterwards with a new crew. It was great to see the band's expanded sound live, the layers really come out. Cute little english girls in vintage dresses w/ short hair and beautiful voices are hot. I think I re-aggravated the stress fracture in my foot during tonight's run. - Micah's stubbornness [drive] + nike frees = bad news...

just a thought

We all stay so busy these days that we never see many of our 'friends' unless we are bored or have nothing better to do. The same thing goes for when you think about or want to hang out with a girl often when you are looking for something to do and hardly at all when you have plenty of options. The people that you really love and care for are the ones that you make time for when there is none. I think that is one of the easiest ways for you to know how you truly feel about someone. - that's all, I'm not even really sure where that came from

some sweet day

two great weekends in a row, now it's time to move out of the shop and find another job asap... Checking out spectralux and the blue hour at lenny's friday night was cool, now if I can just make myself knock out the review for tomorrow... The new lenny's looks horribly lame from the outside but it's nice and dark inside, great graffiti and art, better sound. It was really good to see the skirts and everyone else at smith's [for free, it's always nice when two different bars use such similar hand stamps]. Being able to hang out w/ brian and everyone [for lindsay's birthday ;)] last night was great, meeting girls is always fun. We really need to get everyone together more often. Today was simply a day of football and recovery, I need sleep. - i'm so picky when it comes to girls, for better or worse, what girl has it all? I'm starting to sweat the job [or lack thereof] thing, especially w/ taxes coming due soon...

'the illusion of change'

It appears that I am going to be running point on organizing a film festival in decatur in february and a music festival in atlanta later this year - this is how I like to save the environment... - make caring cool - I also might be responsible for video taping live shows for paste in the near future. What's next?

toronto, eh!

foot.marta.plane.cab.bus.cab.foot [toronto:subway.foot.cab.best nye yet?] foot.subway.bus.foot.bus.plane.marta.foot. home. Toronto rocks. I think I could even deal w/ the cold for the most part. I just love being in a city where owning a car is a liability and only decreases the quality of your everyday life [catch up, atlanta]. There's no better way that I can think of spending nye other than in an old mansion-turned pub/piano bar/sports bar/dance club w/ a bunch of new friends. Ha, I can TOTALLY deal w/ being the only guy in the crew. I crashed on a small [possibly cat pee-tainted] couch four nights and a love seat nye...my bed and I are going to have some fun tonight. - hell yeah, bama got saban. mal moore must really be an evil genius. heads up, sec. what a way to be welcomed back to the states.
