i'm now part of a cohort

I got accepted into the grad program at bgi. I can't wait to get out there and check out the beautiful northwest. Now I've just gotta figure out if I can come up w/ the money for tuition [& plane tickets, books, etc.] w/n the next two weeks or if I'm going to have to wait til next fall. Everything happens so fast, this is going to be a really great experience, sooner or later. I've also got to figure out how to balance the eventual school work w/ what appears to be the now standard 45+ hours at the shop each week. - grow up boy - One more before I go: when doing sit-ups on an incline bench, how do you keep from rubbing the skin off of upper bottox [right where the cheeks begin]? Is this just me?

now you've gone and done it

Just dropped the 250 bucks to take the gmat in november. BGI is still saying I have a shot at getting enrolled this fall [classes start sep. 25th]. We'll see about that, I need to go ahead and take the test anyway though I guess. So apparently grad school is in my future... Any gmat tips?

dry the rain

Tonight, on the way back from waffle house, I got to see three cars submerged in the north avenue lake. Sudden downpours of rain + atlanta's 'sub-par' drainage system + people w/ momentary lapses of reason = good times...ah, memories of joe fyi: job interviews in the middle of the ghetto on mlk dr. @ an old, creepy looking house aren't always a bad idea - john smoltz, you are my hero, please promise to never leave us -

bonus points

Here is tonight's unofficial scorecard for the run: ||| m. mclain ||| 3 pts - one for each time these these black girls in a car yelled something at me as I passed them [red lights, etc.] 10 pts - being high-fived by a hot girl sitting in a car at a red light 5 pts - not breaking stride while executing this maneuver 10 pts - possibly knowing the girl who gave said high five [yet to be verified] 5 pts - five miles 4 pts - one for each time a homeless guy said something to me 3 pts - finishing run w/o throat threatening to swell shut total: 40 pts [new high score] + + + I also signed the guys & me up for a team in creative loafing's field day @ piedmont on Sept. 30th. This consists of totally bad ass, straight up old school '80's field day activities [water balloon toss, eating contest, 4(?)-legged race, etc.]. The championship, after we make it there ;), is tug-of-war. It's time to return to the glory days in hs when the honors class & all of us smart kids...

wrecking force

It's nice to be back in atlanta, saving money and still having too much fun. I saw a quote earlier today that said you're life could be measured in how much fun you have. I think that's true to some point, but there's obviously a lot more to life than that. Anyway... Go see 'little miss sunshine'. While it is another example of how indie films are going more mainstream [good or bad?], it is a great movie. These types of films are my favorite: the kind about how messed up everyone is in their own way, how unfair yet beautiful life is, and how it's all about the true relationships that we develop during our time here. A dark comedy with a heart would be a good way to sum it up I guess. That's all I'm going to say about that, drive to atlanta [or whatever other city you're near] and see it. It was great getting together w/ everyone at Steve's condo [ridiculously nice, the kind of place that I might live in when I'm 50] Saturday night....

too much to say

Let's make this quick, considering the massive amount of stuff to tell: lolla top eleven: - stars [canadians are cool & girls that sing and play the guitar are pretty hot even it they're not attractive] - my morning jacket [their brand of jam band meets classic rock is perfect for large festivals, all the hair doesn't hurt either] - the raconteurs [jack white, 'nuf said - also covered 'crazy'] - sleater-kinney [deserved a much larger time slot for their final date outside of portland, sucks they're going on an 'indefinite hiatus', three women that totally rock] - feist [canadian, plays guitar, beautiful voice, good personality] - the go! team [the music might get old but the beats are fun & the performance is like going to a pep rally on crack, european] - the new pornographers [even neko-less they put on a great show, they're music is some of the best ever and a.c. is always fun on stage, they definitely turned everyone that happened to ...
