changing the wheels on my life

new year's resolutions: :: run a marathon - not much of a stretch, half marathon in march, full marathon tba :: learn to play an instrument - all the best/most versatile bands have keyboards... :: read more - >200 pages/month, baby steps :: volunteer more - once/month :: draw/design/write/create more - join design-aerobics, review more shows, etc. :: focus less on social events/people - more on self improvement :: get back into/maintain shape - this last month of not being able to run has been driving me crazy, pushups + situps + sports + running will suffice :: stop putting more into friendships than I get out of them - you are wasting your time...

best of 2006 [variety is key]

11 :: snowden - anti-anti - I had to get a local band in here, snowden gets the nod over dbt, maserati, and mastodon 10 :: girl talk - night ripper - so illegal yet so catchy, great mashup of many different songs [current and classic], pop music for ADD kids 9 :: the spinto band - nice and nicely done - about as fun as music gets 8 :: malajube - trompe-l'oeil - good enough to tide us over until 'neon bible', bonus points for being entirely in french 7 :: lupe fiasco - food & liquor - kanye west's protege, 'the game theory' was good too 6.5 :: voxtrot - mothers, sisters, daughters & wives [it's only an ep] - indie pop at it's finest, now if they'll just release a full length 6 :: we are scientists - with love and squalor - even better than the spinto band, i hate the roxy 5 :: peter bjorn & john - writer's block - just heard about these guys, it just keeps getting better 4 :: joanna newsom - ys - amazingly intricate/beautiful/ep...

good luck

On my way home from work today [keep in mind that I live less than 1.5 miles from the shop] I saw a dead dog that had been 'placed' on the curb on glen iris and a pretty bad two car wreck w/n a block of each other. This is a relatively quiet two lane street, as far as atlanta goes, the speed limit is only 30 mph...and who would lay a dead dog on the side of the road?! - - - - - - - - - - - I'm sure I'm the last person to see this but it is hilarious & christmas themed so I'm throwing it in here merry christmas, I hope you give good presents...

here's your future

Spent the day at work drinking red wine w/ montine, working and watching this movie that one of our crazy ass customers made. I think we're going to make some copies to show to all our friends. We're def. shutting down the shop the second week of January...I'm really going to miss having such a cool job, but we are both ready to move onto something else. I've just got to find that something else soon. I know that I enjoy the unknown/unlimited possibilities stuff way too much. We'll keep the t-shirt stuff going at some capacity. I think that my main requirement for a job is a 'studio' atmosphere where I can listen to my music, I don't think that's too hard to find. It's the longest night of the year tonight, winter solstice and all that. There is this totally hippie/witchcraft party going on in decatur but I don't think that I could even semi-blend into that kind of scene, although it would be a blast to check out. Wartown this weekend ...

innocent heathen

snowden rocks the buffet at the clermont lounge's holiday party is surprisingly tasty...such sweet strippers - now it's time for family, food, and beer in the middle of a field in collins, ga more later, there's a lot of stuff that I want to get down about tonight and I'm sure I'll have plenty to say about this upcoming weekend, there's no way that I'm going to be able to get the show review to my editor in the morning... - happy holidays -

...regrets...

man, my mouth has been killing my head ever since dinner last night at everybody's 'disgusting' Our football game in the 40 degree weather took my mind off of it for a while at least. I have my best game of the year so far w/ a stress fracture in my foot: 1 td catch, 1 td pass, 1 int on d. Maybe we will have a shot at doing something in the playoffs. I hope I never get too old to do this stuff. Montine and I both agree that the shop is dead, we're ready for what's next...what's next? - Damn, it's back up there again. I wonder if/when I'll get a chance to make it right or how long it will last if I don't. happy friday

roll tide...

out of the 32 bowl games: 29) Independence (Dec. 28): Oklahoma State (6-6) vs. Alabama (6-6). Ladies and gentlemen, it's the first .500 Bowl. The stakes are higher than for most games: Someone's "bowl season" is about to become a "losing season." good news for reggie: 11) Gator: West Virginia (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (9-4). At last, Georgia Tech QB Reggie Ball runs into a secondary even he can complete passes against. (WVU ranks 100th nationally in pass defense.)

part of me is safe / part of me is lies

Does everyone have certain records or artists that they associate with a certain relationship they were in? I don't think that I'm alone in this. I have at least one album or band that so directly relates to a significant relationship or time in my life that any time I hear one of these songs I always think about that person or time. I wonder how much could be read into which music corresponds to each girl or time period. Chronological, folks: seven mary three: rock crown / marvelous three / better than ezra / counting crows / death cab: transatlanticism / wilco: jesus, etc. / the good life: album of the year That's the past ten+ years of my life, with obvious overlaps at times. Hmmm, the most recent album on that list was released over two years ago... - Feel free to leave your own 'relationship records' as comments. That would be a good conversation/online experiment. [ I want to be Rob Fleming ] - update: zero for three on the football road trips over the pa...
