part of me is safe / part of me is lies

Does everyone have certain records or artists that they associate with a certain relationship they were in? I don't think that I'm alone in this. I have at least one album or band that so directly relates to a significant relationship or time in my life that any time I hear one of these songs I always think about that person or time. I wonder how much could be read into which music corresponds to each girl or time period.

Chronological, folks:

seven mary three: rock crown / marvelous three / better than ezra / counting crows / death cab: transatlanticism / wilco: jesus, etc. / the good life: album of the year

That's the past ten+ years of my life, with obvious overlaps at times. Hmmm, the most recent album on that list was released over two years ago...

- Feel free to leave your own 'relationship records' as comments. That would be a good conversation/online experiment.

- update: zero for three on the football road trips over the past three weeks, that's about enough for this season. At least I don't care whether the maple leafs win or lose in Toronto. Oh, and stress fractures aren't painful enough to matter in everyday life, just enough to totally ruin running for 6-8 weeks...I'm going crazy here

i thought about this one. Sunrise over Sea, John Butler Trio. Live at the Wetlands, Robert Randolph and the Family Band (which i hated at the time) non-relationship: Chutes too Narrow, the Shins. However I associate smells more often, I believe.

Ha, thanks. I wonder what Eric would say about that, that's some girly stuff...

It'd be cool to get both sides to see how similar they are. See you guys tonight!

i just saw this. i'm nosey - i heard through the grapevine that you are dating someone. i need to call more often - i know!

i will now go where no girl has gone before. i will disclose the names of the boys with which i make my associations:

Candlebox (It's Alright) - J.Cranford. HA!
Fuel (Sunburn and Hemmorhage) - D.Miles
(i'm drawing a blank for Alex...hmm...)
Bliss 66 (there are many, but this one is at the top of the list) - M.McLain
Brand New - R.Edwards
Jimmy Eat World (Futures) - J.Swarthout
Number One Fan (Compromises) - A.Schleck

That is a freakin' long list. I'd like to think I won't have to add another album and another name.

take care of your foot.

you only live once

The holidays were nice: This was def the weirdest/worst Christmas ever but still good times. Nanny's was different since it's hit the point where it seems like it's time for each 'family' to go their separate way now + w/ all the new little kids and the 20-somethings growing apart. I'm looking forward to having the Fuller Christmas in Charlotte next year. I do love getting more from Mom + Robert than any kid over 14 should - it's pretty awesome how much they've done + continue to do for us. I got to spend a few days w/ Brooke before taking her to the airport on Christmas eve - that was def the best part of the holidays by far. Dad and I got out and played some golf w/ DJ Sparkles as our personal caddy on an unbelievably beautiful day for late December [or April for that matter]. It wasn't hard to tell that it'd been months since I last touched a club. Grandma Salter's was different this year too; mainly b/c Mom + Robert left for Houston on th...

too much sex [too little jesus]

What an awesome title for a rock song. Man, I love dbt. They've got it all. It's just dirty, rowdy, heartfelt southern rock. Anyway... Mondays are weird. I always feel like a slacker b/c everyone else is at work and I'm not, even though I work Saturdays and I went into the shop for a few hours today and did some freelance stuff. I guess it's just me. Such beautiful weather, it seems like the weather's been pretty much awesome for the past month or so. Pretty good weekend. Friday night we checked out Front Page News in midtown. It was pretty cool, I just miss the good ol' days when everyone else would get a little crazy, seems like they're all so chill now. I guess that's how it is when you get in a relationship though, so that's good for them. I guess I feel like having a girlfriend doesn't really change the way I act that much, but maybe it does. I'll work on them though, now that even more of us are in the city. Saturday was an ...
