stick to the future

weekend reflections:

- corndogorama '07 solo 3 out of 4 days [sort of sad but not quite depressing] - got to see a bunch of local bands that I'd been wanting to check out for a while - further convincing me that all you really need as far as live music is concerned is local bands : highlights - corn dog eating/spewing contest, seeing a dude get taken down w/ a burnt corn dog to the crotch launched from thirty feet away by a monster water balloon launcher, drunk people, pretty much every band that I saw, etc.

- two smirnoff ice parties [rock, I love how comfortable/adaptable I've become when it comes to hanging out w/ people that I just met - preston craig is cool and jordan is as well, hopefully I'll be doing more w/ those guys in the future] - still so cool that I get paid to hang out and party w/ a bunch of random people

- running 6-8 mile scavenger hunts at 7a on a sat. morning are a lot of fun [again solo/pre-arranged partner - it sucks to come in first [win by ten minutes after starting six minutes behind everyone] but not get anything b/c of missing one [ambiguous] clue]

- saw a homeless woman gleefully [totally relative] stomping on bubble wrap outside of the 'new' check cashing place [old church's chicken - still not sure how this area can't support one of those] on ponce while coming home from the local/lenny's after 3a

- mastodon is amazing - if you haven't seen prog metal live then you can't appreciate it...I don't care if you think it sounds like crap, anyone that can play that stuff can kill your favorite band

- buckhead is def. worse than you remember it for the most part - a grateful R.I.P. - at least Fado's is staying

The holidays were nice: This was def the weirdest/worst Christmas ever but still good times. Nanny's was different since it's hit the point where it seems like it's time for each 'family' to go their separate way now + w/ all the new little kids and the 20-somethings growing apart. I'm looking forward to having the Fuller Christmas in Charlotte next year. I do love getting more from Mom + Robert than any kid over 14 should - it's pretty awesome how much they've done + continue to do for us. I got to spend a few days w/ Brooke before taking her to the airport on Christmas eve - that was def the best part of the holidays by far. Dad and I got out and played some golf w/ DJ Sparkles as our personal caddy on an unbelievably beautiful day for late December [or April for that matter]. It wasn't hard to tell that it'd been months since I last touched a club. Grandma Salter's was different this year too; mainly b/c Mom + Robert left for Houston on th...

too much sex [too little jesus]

What an awesome title for a rock song. Man, I love dbt. They've got it all. It's just dirty, rowdy, heartfelt southern rock. Anyway... Mondays are weird. I always feel like a slacker b/c everyone else is at work and I'm not, even though I work Saturdays and I went into the shop for a few hours today and did some freelance stuff. I guess it's just me. Such beautiful weather, it seems like the weather's been pretty much awesome for the past month or so. Pretty good weekend. Friday night we checked out Front Page News in midtown. It was pretty cool, I just miss the good ol' days when everyone else would get a little crazy, seems like they're all so chill now. I guess that's how it is when you get in a relationship though, so that's good for them. I guess I feel like having a girlfriend doesn't really change the way I act that much, but maybe it does. I'll work on them though, now that even more of us are in the city. Saturday was an ...
