Alright, this is just going to be a lame 'things I've done' post...nothing special, but at least it'll be recorded here for whatever that's worth, the children I guess. It's been quite an eventful week:
Saturday night was the yeah yeah yeahs @ the tab. Large concerts are pretty much always disappointing, not nearly long enough and w/ way too many 'hip' folks that just came to talk about how they were such big fans and drink a lot of beer the entire time the show was going on. It's a blast to watch Karen O though, just so joyful and nuts - good combo. We made it to the top of the Westin for a look around and to a random quickie for two 22 oz. of high life before hanging out and talking to a homeless guy for half an hour. I do that way too much, it was def. a new experience for Constance though. I think she actually thought she could make a difference. I think we've just gotta be kind to them & try to learn what we can from them. That, and not get jumped by them for crack money. The evening was a success in that regard.
Made it home Sunday for the falcons game [boo], grilling out w/ josh and dad, and the fair for dad's bday. My dad is really cool, but I'm not sure if he'll ever get it back together. I guess he has to at some point though, but I've thought that for about five years now. Man, you can't let the past defeat you forever.
I got to eat lunch & hang out w/ my grandma Monday. She's doing really well, her legs are giving her some trouble though. I love it how the best/most comfortable place in the world is always at your grandma's house. I could walk into her house wide awake and after sitting down and hanging out & talking for a while be ready for a nap in the recliner. Ha, we both got recliner naps while I was there. Made a stop by the cemetery on my way back to atlanta, that's weird to think about, so sad but so happy too. Grandparents are really amazing. There's so much to learn & I'm really afraid that most of us don't get nearly enough knowledge out of them.
I think I've found a way to get to hang out w/ joe outside of GT tailgates: invite him to dinner and a movie. Our date tuesday night was great, it really reminded me of why I fell in love w/ him in the first place so many years ago.
We got everyone together last night for WNDC/Eric's bday @ cosmolava. Good times but very short. I just got back from MODA for the 'to a t' opening. It was really cool, pretty much just a bunch of great t-shirt designs and a lot of GTid kids that I went to school w/. It always weird to see old classmates/professors that you're not really friends w/ b/c it makes me wonder about what I'm doing & if it's as good as what they're doing or what I should be doing. We'll get there.
Tomorrow is the little five points halloween festival, which means my volunteering along w/ about ten other people, all of whom are at least twice my age [at least if it's anything like last year]. Old people in little five are cool/surprisingly youthful. I can just stand there 'working my gate' & look around at all the diversity for three hours - little kids in costumes, drum circles, crazy ass bands and performers, homeless 'squatters' hanging out & having fun w/ everyone else, yuppies, etc.
NYC is less than two weeks away - sleeping on hotel room floors, going to tons of shows/parties, eating cheap, walkabouts, meeting & working w/ a bunch of new young people.
GT gets Clemson this weekend, we really need this.
Let's go Jackets!
Oh, cat power's playing the earl on sunday afternoon...yes, the earl, total intimacy. She's even sober now, what a show.
